Aliza is playing
in her third and final year as a midfielder. Born and raised in Vancouver and
living in London for her last two years of high school, Aliza is the team sass
master who has goals and knows exactly how to reach them. Majoring in chemistry
and economics, she plans on going into management consulting or law school once
her time at McGill is done. Ten years from now, she sees herself back in the UK,
cruising in an Audi R8. When she’s not playing field hockey, you can find Aliza
studying (or chatting) on the fifth floor of Trottier, listening to anything
from Modest Mouse to Kendrick Lamar, or playing intramural ice hockey. Aliza is
also an undercover knitter and one of the best dressed on the team (that is,
when she isn’t getting called out by strangers for wearing our hideous track
pants). If you ask Aliza, she’ll say she’s a good cook, but her roommate (and
team goalie) Marianne doesn’t know how Aliza survived when she left for a
semester abroad.

Dinner at the de Wet’s
This past weekend the Martlets headed to Kingston, Ontario. After
a tough match against U of T, the players all headed up north to the Inverary
countryside for dinner at Lari’s house. Everyone appreciated creative snacks
and home cooked food, especially the rookies, after only eating cafeteria food.
After dinner, our team bonding activity involved discovering the results of the
personality test that we had taken earlier in the season. Learning about the
different personality types in within the team has greatly helped us all in
understanding how we all learn, and allows us to give better directions to each
other on the field. The night finished off with a special surprise for Marlou and DJ- a beautiful cake made by Alice to celebrate their engagement!

Alumni Game and BBQ
This past labor day Sunday, the Martlets hosted a mini-tournament with the Montreal Men's team and some past alumni players. The day was a great success with the team playing awesome and tying the alumni team. Special thanks to the family of forward, Eleni Siganos, for bringing a barbecue and tons of other delicious food for the players and spectators!
